1. Federated learning research
The student is expected to publish papers at machine learning top conferences including ICML, ICLR, and NeurIPS. Other related conferences and journals are also acceptable.
Requirements
1) The candidate has research experience or is ranked top 5% of her/his bachelor's study.
2) The candidate has a special interest and strong background in one of the below disciplines: Optimization, Statistics, Mathematical modelling, Learning theory, Deep Learning practice, Reinforcement learning, Cybersecurity and IoT.
3) The candidate has a basic understanding of machine learning, deep learning and related programming experience.
4) The candidate must be self-motivated and self-manageable. The candidate should have reasonable communication skills and teamwork experience.
2. Foundation model research
The student is expected to publish papers at Natural Language Processing's top conferences including ACL, NAACL, and EMNLP. It is also encouraged to publish papers at Information Retrieval's topo conference including SIGIR and WWW. Other related conferences and journals are also acceptable.
Requirements
1) The candidate has research experience or is ranked top 5% of her/his bachelor's study or has work experience in related industry sectors, e.g., NLP and text-processing-related companies.
2) The candidate has a special interest and strong background in NLP programming.
3) The candidate has a strong background in machine learning, deep learning and related programming experience.
4) The candidate must be self-motivated and self-manageable. The candidate should have strong communication skills and rich experience in teamwork.
3. Application-driven research
The student is expected to participate in industry projects and publish papers at related top conferences including AAAI, IJCAI, KDD, and WWW. Other related conferences and journals are also acceptable.
Requirements

2) The candidate has a special interest and strong background in one of the below disciplines: Mathematical modelling, Deep Learning practice, CV, NLP, Reinforcement learning, Cybersecurity and IoT.

4) The candidate must be self-motivated and self-manageable. The candidate should have strong communication skills and rich experience in teamwork.
